The strangest place you have ever....CONTEST

Uhmmmm you probably know that you sometimes get inspiration at the strangest times or just have an itch to stitch, but there are not enough hours in a day..
I find myself sometimes trying to find time to do some stitching while doing something else...still haven't found a way of stitching in the bathtub.

yes I know...I am a strange girl, but I would like to convince myself and those around me that I am not the only one...(know the feeling??)

So I was hoping to get you to tell us the strangest place you have stitched on or maybe the most inappropriate place you stitched. But since it might be hard to persuade some people to tell me I thought of this: A Contest...So the person who will post the strangest story on her blogg or sends me her story will get a small quiltinggoodiebag in the mail!

So...tell me your story...

Barbara

Is there any inapropriate places to stitch ?? ;-)
I have been drawing quilt blocks in the steam in my shower cabinet, but not stitching there though ;-)
I do not have a bath tub.
I have been stitching in a bbq party too. It was mostly a guy party and I was driver for my DH. I was dead bored and had a DJ block in my purse - one of the yellow stars - and I thought why not - and stitched a block during the day.
Not a wasted day after all ;-)

I could tell a story on Cher and her odd stitching place but she should share that one.

Me, not odd but redwork or knitting and one time, binding at a nuring seminar. What are they gonna do--fire me? I don't work outside the home.

I have stitched at MCDonalds. I had to finish a stitched afghan for my nephewand needed to finish it in 2 hours his name and the trainride wasn't long enough, so we were eating at MCDonalds and I made the last letters of Mitch his name.

I've stitched at the beach. Got a little sand mixed in with the fabric, but it vacuumed out easy enough.

I never actually stitched, but I did cut and pin at work...

(I need to blog that story, but I don't have a photo of the quilt & it is in storage....)

Hmm. This is a good question. I stitch all the time in the passenger seat of our V-10 as we travel down the road, so I don't consider that strange. Hotels all up and down the CA coast. Once in a hotel in a tiny town in Northern AZ, I had to sit on the floor and push down the foot pedal with my hand. It worked okay, because I had my FW with me.

Maybe the strangest is on the Greyhound bus when I went from Phoenix to Tucson to see my older son. I finished an entire Baltimore block during the trip.

I doodled all the time at work during meetings - quilt designs and quilting designs, but don't think I can get away with actual stitching.
I've had several strange places:

On the bus during a 20something-day tour through Europe. Actually finished a large cross-stitch design.
At the library while waiting for my daughter to finish class, I appliqued flowers.
On a park bench in front of the conservatory while my daughter walked around the park, I appliqued more of the same flowers.
At work while I was manning the voting polls on a slow day, I finished binding a quilt.

I had a five hour layover once and did the binding on a quilt sitting there in the terminal. What was amazing were all the folks, men and women, who came over to view the process. It was interesting and fun finding out how many quilters there are around! Lots of men said, "Oh, my wife is a quilter!"

We have a HUGE ladies room at the clinic where I work - designed for wheelchair access and plenty big enough to layer a queen sized quilt. LOL -- it was clean, and I didn't have any other room large enough!

This was a fun contest.
I quilt everywhere. My friends ask me how I manage to to all my quilts. But that's because I stitch everywhere....at any free time.
I broght along a quilt to handquilt during a long bustrip from Norway to Krakow. I manage to complete this quilt on the trip.
I do not watch television, I hear television while stitching. And I have been stitching at work. Once there where only me at work the christmas days and there were nothing to do. But I stitched a lot. But was scared to death everytime the phone rang.
But perhaps the strangest place I have been stitching is sitting on the toilet. Had to finish a quilt to a contest in my local quiltgroup and I had to complete the binding, which I managed, but did not win.
In my bag there is always a stitchery or application to be done. I may get some spare time to do it.
Hugs from Norway
